Hi, for thirty years I have been using drugs in many different forms. Desperation was a factor that brought me here to Touchstones, because I couldn’t go on any longer. I came to Touchstones four months ago feeling anxious and unaware of how the program works. As soon as I arrived here I was made to feel welcome. Importantly, all concerned made me feel like a human being and that I too have a purpose in life.
During my time here I have learned about my illness and how it has tried to take over my life. There is also a strong social aspect to this program. I’ve not experienced too many fulfilling social situations before in my life. Now I constructively engage in social situations on daily basis.
I have recently started getting back into the electronics scene, as I have had the pleasure of building a computer to a very high specification. The computer that I have built is now being raffled off. The organisation is planning to buy some more work based P.C’s, with money raised, to encourage new clients to learn about computers.
The satisfaction that I have got from attending this project has been overwhelming. I encourage anyone to think hard about there illness, because you are worth it! There is a better life out there without the use of drugs, take it from me.
