Councillor Holden here, I visited your centre yesterday, As you know I had some issues relating to location which we discussed. Having said that I appreciate that your invaluable work in helping people to reclaim their lives is great. I wish you all the best. I feel the next year or so is a kind of test. The jury is out for this period so to speak. But I do genuinely wish you all the best and hope your project is a success and has a positive impact on Colwyn Bay. God knows the town needs it.

Message: Whilst reading through the latest copy of the Pioneer I came across your article and decided to have a peek at your site...well more than a peek as I have been here for over an hour!

What a great bunch you are, both staff and clients alike. The pen features are great, there is no divide between the service providers and clients and that just sells it for me. No patronising separate sections, no judgemental comments or hierarchal status and so forth.Just a healthy, positive attitude and outlook.

After having being on prescribed medications for 13 years I can relate to the problems that people have with addiction, irrespective of the fact that the meds were prescribed, I was well and truly addicted to benzodiazepines.

After a difficult reducing regime under supervision, I am now drug-free.

I am very open about my life and do everything I can to stamp out the stigma attached to mental and psychological health issues. After all, I always say that anyone could wake up tomorrow morning and see pink elephants dancing on the ceiling. When I was training to be an RGN, I worked on a drug and alcohol dependance unit and I used to think.... Imagine ending up like that. Well I ate those words every meal time for 13 years and almost choked on them.

Anyway, I am rambling now.
